NEWSLETTER MRS. TURNER FEB. 12-16

VALENTINE’S DAY- Students may bring Valentines to exchange with their classmates on Wednesday, February 14th. We will make folders at school to hold the Valentines. A class list was sent home last week. Please include ALL children in our class if you choose to give Valentines.

SIX FLAGS READING PROGRAM-All forms are due this Thursday, February 15th. No late forms will be accepted.

IN-SCHOOL FIELD TRIP- On Friday, the ladies from the Parks and Recreation Dept. will be doing a lesson with the students about Endangered Species.

NO SCHOOL- Monday, February 19th and Tuesday, February 20th

BAG BOOK REPORTS- WOW! The children did a great job with their Bag Book Reports! I was impressed and entertained!

WRITING FAIR- Congratulations to Tripp Nichols and Reilly McDurmon for making it into the Writing Fair finals for third grade. Each third grade teacher brought pieces of writing to be judged. Only three of those pieces were chosen to move on to the next round and two were from our class!!! The one, winning entry will be sent to the County Writing Fair.

MARCH MATHNESS- The competition begins March 1st. Continue to review your multiplication facts on a nightly basis so you’ll be ready! Let’s make it FOUR years in a row!

GREEN EGGS AND HAM- The lunchroom staff will be serving green eggs and ham for breakfast on the morning of March 2nd to kick off the Book Fair.

EARLY RELEASE- Wednesday, March 7th.

ACCELERATED READER- How are you doing toward your goal? Is the goal reasonable for you? Let me know

BAG BOOK REPORT- Information was sent home on Friday about the requirements for this report. The completed bags are due this Friday, Feb. 9th.

SPRING PICTURES- Tuesday, February 6th at 10:40

CURRICULUM NIGHT- Thursday, February 8th - Come and enjoy some hands-on activities starting at 6:30.

NO SCHOOL- Monday, Feb. 19th and Tuesday, Feb. 20th

ACCELERATED READER- Students should be reading AR books and taking tests. We are almost half way through the nine week period. Please ask your child how he/she is doing toward his/her goal.

CRCT ONLINE TESTS- Please continue taking online tests. I’ve only heard from ~1/3 of the students saying that they have tried the tests at home. Let me know what you’re missing on the tests, and we can make sure we go over that information at school. Remember we have two and ½ more months of school before we take the test. Lots more teaching left.

HELPERS- Many thanks to Mrs. Hulsey for being our Mystery Reader and to Mrs. McDurmon and Mrs. Allison for our Art Lesson. I truly appreciate ALL of the parents who come in each week to help in the classroom. You all are WONDERFUL!!!!

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART- Ford students raised over $21,000 for Jump Rope For Heart!!! WOW!

MATH- Problem Solving / Measurement / Study facts on a nightly basis / 7 Minute Timed Test on Wednesday

SOCIAL STUDIES- Discuss Cobb County / Read newspaper articles on various topics
