Newsletter

NEWSLETTER MRS. TURNER OCT. 8-12

TESTING- It’s over! Many thanks for sending in the wonderful snacks, drinks, and surprises. The children looked forward to that every day.

CONFERENCES- We used to have parent conferences in October, but the county has moved them to January.

REPORT CARDS- The report card for the first nine week period will be sent home on October 22nd.

MATH UNIT #1- Our first math unit will end this Friday. Students are still having difficulty with subtraction with regrouping and elapsed time. These are both difficult concepts that need lots of review and practice. Any reinforcement that you could give at home would be appreciated. The end of unit test will be given some time this week.

PARENT HELPERS- We can have parent helpers again this week…YEAH!!!!!

ACCELERATED READER- I sent home a slip last week indicating how many tests each child has taken, the scores received, and the number of points earned. Even though we didn’t have a set goal this first nine weeks, students were told that they WERE expected to read AR books and to take AR tests. Continue to encourage your child to read AR books. It’s a GREAT tool for checking comprehension. We are in third grade, so students should not be reading AR books below 3.0.

FIELD TRIPS- I’m sorry that two field trip forms came home so close together. I know that’s asking for a lot of money at one time. The most recent one was blue, and it was for High Touch High Tech. Please return it as soon as you are able.
