NEWSLETTER MRS. TURNER OCT. 15-19

LAST WEEK- Whew! What a week! I’m thankful that we can move forward and get back on track.

FIELD TRIP- We will be going to the Cato Environmental Center on Tuesday. We will leave at 9:00 and return at 1:00. Please listen to the weather and dress appropriately. We will be outside the whole day. On the permission form, you marked: ______bring a lunch from home / _______buy a sack lunch from school. Please plan accordingly.

EARLY RELEASE- Students will be dismissed at 12:15 on Wednesday, October 17th.

SCIENCE WITH MRS. HUEBENER- Students have completed the 4 ½ week unit of science with Mrs. Huebener. They will all stay with me for 4 ½ weeks for a new Social Studies unit.

MATH UNIT 2- We will begin a new math unit today. All of the students will stay with me throughout the unit this time. Our main objective will be to master all of the multiplication facts, 0-12.

ART AWARENESS- We are looking forward to our first Art Awareness lesson with Mrs. O’Reilly on Thursday.

CONGRATUALTIONS TO THE WINNING TABLE- Morgan Murphy, Heather Hall, Greg Contreras, Aydan Mufti, and Katie Evans earned thirty cubes and made the new seating chart. They will decide on a reward of their choice.

SUBJECT MATTER

SPELLING- Core Words- four, head, above, kind, begun Bonus Words- multiplication, array, product, factor, multiple / Cloze Review on Thursday / Students are expected to use correct spelling in their everyday writing. Notations are made in the gradebook for errors made in other subject areas.

ENGLISH- Plural nouns / Test on Friday

READING- We will start our discussion of the Cherokee Indians by reading Ahyoka. /
We will set an AR goal for the second nine week period. /Trail of Tears will also be read and discussed this week.

VOCABULARY- An oral test over Unit 1 words will be given tomorrow.

SOCIAL STUDIES- We will be discussing map scales, map grids, and map keys.

MATH- Unit 2 begins today with a pretest. We will introduce multiplication throughout the week. Multiplication fish tests will begin next week. Ask your child how these tests are going to work. Start studying those facts!!!!
