REPORT CARDS-Report cards will be coming home today. I have had the opportunity to go over the report card with each child individually. Please sign the signature card and return it in the UNsealed envelope. Keep the report card. I have a copy at school. Please address the envelope and add TWO stamps. We will use this envelope at the end of the year to send home the final report card and other materials.
PHONE CONFERENCES- I will start having phone conferences this afternoon. I really have to stick to the 15 minute limit so that I can fit everyone in Please mark your day and time on your calendar so you’ll be available when I call. I am looking forward to speaking to each of you and answering any questions you may have.
RED RIBBON WEEK- This week is Drug Awareness Week. Each day, students will be asked to do certain things to show their commitment to a drug free life. Monday- Students will receive a Drug Free bracelet. Please wear it all week. / Tuesday- “Hugs Not Drugs”- Bring your favorite stuffed animal / Wednesday- “Put a Cap on Drugs”- Wear a hat / Thursday- “Team Up Against Drugs”-Wear your favorite sports team attire /
Friday- “Red Day”- Wear red!!!
ART AWARENESS- Mrs. O’Reilly did a great art/music lesson with the children last week. Thanks so much for your time and expertise!
EARTH LESSON- Mr. Contreras and Mr. Dilts will be doing an earth lesson with the students on Thursday. We are looking forward to it!
STAMPEDE TO READ- The students have one more week to read and turn in cards for Stampede to Read! Mrs. Vollbracht and Mrs. Hall have done a very good job keeping up with the cards and offering reading incentives to the students.
ACCELERATED READER- Please ask your child each week how he/she is doing with AR. I would like for everyone to get at least 10 points by the end of the nine week period. Read! Read! Read!
SCIENCE OLYMPIAD- Congratulations to the winners of the Straw Tower competition…The Cychotic Scientists made up of Dresden Dilts, Jamie O’Hara, and Aydan Mufti. They constructed a tower 68 inches tall! (Yes, they came up with the name and spelling of their team)
PLURALS PROJECT- Students are bringing home information today about a plurals project that is due on Thursday. I shared some examples in class.
SUBJECT MATTER
SPELLING-Core Words- almost, live, got, earth, page Bonus Words- enough, signed, different, because, another, through, homograph, Cherokee Indians, Creek Indians, thought / Cloze Review on Thursday / Remember, it’s just as important to spell correctly in every day writing as it is to do well on the tests! / We will be discussing homographs – Words that are spelled the same, but have different sounds and meanings. Example: live- I live in Acworth. Are you using live bait? / “j” sound
ENGLISH- subjects and predicates / plurals project due Thursday / Informational writing / morning work packet
READING- Continue reading and discussing Ahyoka / Georgia News Weekly
MATH- We will be starting the famous “Fish Tests” this week. A letter will be coming home today with details. Hopefully you’ve already heard about the tests from your child!!! Study those facts EVERY night! Your hard work will pay off in the end
