SCHOOL SPIRIT- We won the horseshoe again! Everyone in our class wore red! Thanks for your great participation on School Spirit Days!
FOOD FOR FRIENDS- This is the last week to collect food for the victims of the hurricane.
HALLOWEEN ACTIVITIES- Mrs. Hendricks has planned some neat activities (all are related to our third grade standards!!!) for Wednesday. If you are interested in helping, please e-mail her.
VULCAN ROCK QUARRY- A permission form will be coming home today for the Vulcan Rock Quarry Field Trip. Please indicate on the form if you are planning on providing your own lunch or if you would like a sack lunch from school.
STAMPEDE TO READ- Thanks for sending in books for the Stampede to Read celebration. Many thanks to Mrs. Vollbracht and Mrs. Hall for organizing this program for us.
EARTH LESSON- Mr. Contreras and Mr. Dilts did our first earth lesson on Thursday. The children learned about 3 types of soil, and they planted seeds. We will be charting the growth.
NO SCHOOL- Students do not have school on Monday, November 5th or on Tuesday, November 6th. Enjoy your time off

SUBJECT MATTER
SPELLING- Unit 11 words: Core Words- need, far, hand, high, year Bonus Words- sequence(order), inference(guess), context clues (read around the words), comprehension (understand), conclusion (end) / Cloze Review on Thursday / Study “Tab Words” in spelling composition book- These are words that have been missed on various assignments.
ENGLISH- Singular and Plural Possessive Nouns- test next Monday
VOCABULARY- Unit 2 test on Tuesday
READING- If You Lived With the Cherokee- Jigsaw group activities to learn the material / Read for AR goal – Remember, each student needs 10 points with 80% accuracy before the end of the nine weeks.
MATH- The fish tests have gotten off to a good start. We will be on a three day rotation: In Order Test, Mixed Up Test, then The Real Deal! We will take a break from the 7 minute timed test while we work on the fish tests.
SCIENCE- Scientific Process / Water plants and observe the growth
SOCIAL STUDIES- Map keys, map scales, types of communities: rural, suburban, and urb
