NEWSLETTER MRS. TURNER APRIL 30- MAY 4


ACCELERATED READER- Students have two more weeks to reach their AR goals.

LIBRARY BOOKS- All library books are due this Friday.

“P” PARTY- Students who have met their AR goal EVERY nine week period, will be invited to the “P” Party at Mrs. Turner’s house on Tuesday, May 22nd from 4-6. Students have until next Friday, May 11th to meet the goal for this nine week period.

EVENING IN THE GARDEN- Come and enjoy a wonderful night around our beautiful campus. Please park at Brookstone and ride the shuttle over to the school. Third grade will be performing at 6:45. The festivities kick off at 5:15 with the P.T.S.A. meeting beginning at 5:45 on the lower blacktop.

MUFFINS FOR MOMS- Please mark your calendars and plan to come on Friday, May 11th from 8-9 in our classroom.

THIRD GRADE FIELD DAY- Tuesday, May 15th

THURSDAY TEN PLAY- Thursday, May 17th from 8-9.

END OF YEAR PARTY- Mrs. Yeager and I would like to plan a special end of the year party for the students outside of school (we are not allowed to have a party at school). We have some ideas, but if you have something in mind, please let me know ASAP so that we can finalize plans.

CRCT- Thank you so much for the wonderful snacks, drinks, and surprises that were sent in last week. The children really enjoyed having the special snacks. I feel like the children worked hard and gave their best effort. We should know the results before the end of the year.

SPECIAL FILMING- Remember, our class will be filmed by the county this Wednesday at ~10:30. I’m excited!

EVENING IN THE GARDEN- Lots of forms were sent home last week about this very special event. Please return the form that lets Ms. Beale know if your child is participating in the singing portion of the program or if your child would like to play his/her instrument that evening. Please get those forms turned in by Wednesday. The event takes place on Monday, April 30th. That is also Mrs. Pepper’s birthday

MUFFINS FOR MOMS- Remember to mark your calendars for Friday, May 11th from 8:00-9:00.

AR- Students have three more weeks to reach their AR goals. We will be going to the media center tomorrow to check out new books. Students may use books from the media center until May 4th.

“P” Party- All students who have met their AR goals EVERY nine weeks, will be invited to Mrs. Turner’s house on Tuesday, May 22 from 4-6 to celebrate a great year of reading.

VOLUNTEER COFFEE- Parents are invited to the Media Center on Wednesday, May 9th for a Volunteer Coffee. We truly appreciate all that you do for us throughout the year!

TALENT SHOW- The Ford Talent Show will be held on Wednesday, May 9th at 6:30 in the Harrison High School Theatre.

THURSDAY TEN- The students who stay with me in the classroom on Thursdays, will be presenting a play for their parents on Thursday, May 17th at 8:00. Parents, mark your calendars for this exciting event.

RISE STUDENT- Our RISE student, Meridith Dunk, has been a great asset to our classroom. She will be graduating from Harrison High School this year. I would like for our class to put together a graduation package for her. I’m going to buy a laundry basket and some towels and wash cloths. Send in anything that you think she would like or need for her college years. We will put all of the items in the basket. Wrap your item individually and put your name on it.

MATH- We will be working on long division and reviewing multiplication with partial products this week. We will take a timed test on Wednesday. Be ready if you’re not a Math Buster yet. We will also be discussing the various properties: commutative, associative, and distributive.

WORDLY WISE- We will be working on Lesson 7 this week. We will have a test over the words next Monday.

SCIENCE- Review the concepts that we learned on the field trips. Continue discussing animals and plants found in Georgia

SOCIAL STUDIES- Discuss taxes and facts about Georgia’s history

ENGLISH- Morning work packet / books for retiring teachers/practice for video

WELCOME BACK! I hope you had a wonderful Spring Break with your family and friends.

CRCT (Criterion Referenced Competency Test) We will be reviewing in all areas this week to continue preparing for the CRCT next week. Students need to be at school on time every day. They need to have at least two good number 2 pencils with good erasers. They can NOT be mechanical pencils. I will be sending home a special snack schedule for testing week.

ONLINE CRCT PRACTICE- It is to your child’s benefit to try the CRCT online practice tests. It helps your child become familiar with the format and the types of questions that will be asked.

ACCELERATED READER- Ask your child how he/she is doing toward his/her goal for this nine week period. All library books have to be turned in by Friday, May 4th . I am going to make the following Friday, May 11th, the deadline for meeting the goal this last nine weeks. As of today, your child has _______out of_______points.
