NEWSLETTER MRS. TURNER APRIL 14-18

WELCOME BACK- I hope everyone had a relaxing break.

CRCT- We will be reviewing and prepping for the CRCT test this week and next. I will be sending home a special testing snack schedule at the beginning of next week. Each day a healthy and salty snack, a drink, and a surprise will be provided for the students. The test starts on Wednesday, April 23rd and continues until the following Tuesday, April 29th.

ACCELERATED READER- Students have 5 MORE WEEKS to earn their 10 AR points. As of today, your child has _______ AR points. Everyone is on track to come to the “P” Party. Make sure to earn your points early so you won’t be stressed towards the end of the nine weeks period.

SPRING FLING- Come and join the fun on Saturday from 4-8!!! There will be lots of games, booths, auction items (the third grade teachers are offering a neat treat…kick ball and pizza… the students will play the teachers on Wednesday, April 30th from 2:30-4:30…the 10 highest bidders will win this GREAT auction item) Also, please remember to send in items for our Family Fun basket.

SPELLING- Core Words- run, book, gave, order, open Review Words- irregular verb, found, said, written ,thought, heard, kept, eaten, known /Long and short u sound / Adding suffixes /Cloze Review on Thursday

ENGLISH- Irregular verbs -Quiz on Thursday / Parts of a friendly letter / Reference materials / Review subjects and predicates / Using “a” and “an” correctly

READING- Using parts of a book / Time order words in stories / Read AR books / Try on-line CRCT tests

WRITING-Work on uppercase cursive letters / poetry

SOCIAL STUDIES- Rivers found in the U.S. and around the world / Georgia’s state symbols

MATH- Review multiplication with partial products. (Parents, get your child to show you the NEW way to do 2 & 3 digit by 1 digit multiplication) Introduce long division / Review basic math skills / Study facts at home each night

SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES- Watch various videos each afternoon to review science and social studies standards
