ABSENT- I was not at school today. I took Allison to the University of Georgia for an official visit.
ACCELERATED READER- I sent home a letter on Friday showing how many AR points your child has so far. All students are expected to get 10 points by the end of the nine weeks. Please ask your child about what he/she is reading on a daily basis. Remember to log the minutes on the reading log.
MATH 7 MINUTE TIMED TEST- Students can choose which test they want to take each week. They don’t have to pass them in a certain order. All tests need to be passed with 100% accuracy by the end of the year.
PARENT HELPERS- Many thanks to all of the parent volunteers who have helped us out in the classroom. Mystery Reader started today…thanks Mrs. Appelgate!
LETTERS ABOUT STUDENTS- If you haven’t had a chance to write me a letter about your child, please take the time to write one. Your insight really helps!
GARDEN CLEAN-UP- Please come and help clean our gardens on Saturday, September 27th from 8-12.

ENGLISH- Subjects and predicates / Morning work packet
WRITING- Work on Response to Literature writing/ Write a new version of Cinderella
READING- Continue discussing traditional literature / Use Venn diagrams to compare and contrast the three different versions of Cinderella / Work on Main Idea and Drawing Conclusions with RISE student and parents / Read and discuss Time For Kids
MATH- Pre-assess addition and subtraction chapter / Introduce properties: Identity Property, Commutative Property, Associative Property, Fact Families / Work on addition and subtraction with regrouping / Revisit rounding- Please practice rounding at home! / 7 minute timed test every Wednesday
SOCIAL STUDIES-Map scales / Map grids / Read There’s a Map on My Lap
