NEWSLETTER MRS. TURNER OCT. 13-17

FIELD T RIP- We will be going on a field trip to the CATO Environmental Center tomorrow. We will be leaving at~ 9:00 and returning at ~1:30. Students should wear their new Ford royal blue t-shirts. We will be outside for the majority of the field trip, so please listen to the weather and dress appropriately. Students marked in their agendas whether or not they are supposed to bring a sack lunch from home. Some students ordered a sack lunch from school.

EARLY RELEASE- Students will be dismissed at 12:10 on Wednesday. Students are also able to wear “slippers” by donating $1.00 to Relay for Life.

MARK THE DATE- Parents, please mark your calendar for Friday, November 21st. We are inviting the parents to our classroom for a special Turkey Tale Celebration from 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M.

STAMPEDE TO READ- Get in on the action! Students are being asked to read 40 minutes 5 out of 7 nights a week. Information was sent home on Friday. These minutes can obviously be counted on the reading log as well. Hold on to the Stampede to read cards until the end of the program. Many thanks to Mrs. Keaton for handling this for us.

READING LOG- A new reading log for the second nine weeks will be sent home today.

ACCELERATED READER- ALL STUDENTS met the AR goal for the first nine weeks! Yes! The goal for the second nine weeks is 10 points again. Keep up the great reading!

MULTIPLICATION FACTS- We will be starting the famous Multiplication Fish Tests next week. Please start working on the 2’s, 3’s, and 4’s so you’ll be ready. I’ll give more specific instructions to the students on Friday.

REPORT CARDS- Report cards will be sent home this Friday. Please sign the signature card and return it in the unsealed envelope. Keep the report card at home.

SUBJECT MATTER
SPELLING- Unit 8 words: Core Words- once, animal, life, enough, took Bonus Words- rock cycle, sedimentary, metamorphic, igneous, geologist, paleontologist / Cloze Review on Friday

ENGLISH- Work on the book cover, illustrations, and “About the Author” for Cinderella stories. Many thanks to Mrs. Sawick, Mrs. McElhannon, Mrs. Nemeth, and Mrs. Coats for typing the stories for us.

READING- Time For Kids / Traditional literature passages / One on one help with Inferencing and Conclusions

SCIENCE- Test over fossils tomorrow before the field trip
MATH- Practice the math concepts covered this 9 weeks / Unit 1 Post Test on Wednesday / Unit 2 Pretest on Friday / Study multiplication facts

SOCIAL STUDIES- Begin unit on government
