Reminders

REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 17-21

MONDAY- 1) Bring a soda and a snack for Pop and Read Monday morning. Reagan Coats will be providing a special birthday treat also. Students should bring a small pillow to sit on in their seats AND lots of reading material! Hopefully this will give the students a chance to earn some AR points since we spent many weeks on our biography books.
2)Bring a sack lunch and a drink that will be eaten in the classroom from 11:15-11:45.(3 students ordered a sack lunch from school)
3)The Boosterthon Fun Run will be held in the afternoon from 12:10-1:45. All parents are welcome to come and cheer on the students!
4) Start collecting money for all of the Boosterthon FunRun pledges!
5) Progress Reports will be sent home on Monday.
6) Real Deal Fish Test- Study over the weekend and be ready for the test on Monday!
7) Reading log is due- Remember, students must read for at least 20 minutes, 4 out of 7 nights.

TUESDAY- 1)Wear the royal blue class t-shirt for the yearbook picture.
2) Lunch will be eaten in the classroom from 11:30-12:00

WEDNESDAY-1) Third grade Thanksgiving Feast! 12:05-12:50 in the cafeteria. Parents should pay in the hallway, and we will come down the hall and meet you!

THURSDAY-1) Lunch in the classroom from 12:33-1:03
2) Turn in the Boosterthon Fun Run pledges by December 2nd! 10% of what we collect comes directly back to our classroom!

FRIDAY-1)Turkey Tale Celebration -8:00-9:00 in the classroom. Come and join us for some creative stories, awesome artwork, and delicious doughnuts, coffee, and juice.
2) Enjoy a week off with friends and family! I’ll see you on Monday, December 1st.

NEWSLETTER MRS. TURNER NOV. 10-14

BIOGRAPHY BOOK REPORT-Tomorrow is the big day! We have been working hard on this for many weeks now. We read the book, learned how to take notes, studied the notes, now the students should be ready to be interviewed tomorrow. Please practice tonight with your child. I’m looking forward to meeting all of the famous people tomorrow.

ACCELERATED READER- All students still have a goal of 10 points for this nine weeks even though we had the biography book report. As of today, your child has ______out of 10 points. We have completed four weeks, and we are beginning the fifth week of the nine week period.

BOOSTERTHON FUN RUN- Wow! What an exciting adventure. The students AND parents have done a great job getting pledges for the Boosterthon Fun Run! Science Lab here we come! Please try to come to the fun run on Thursday from 12:10-1:45 and support your child. I know it’s going to be LOTS of fun We will be having sack lunches in the room that day right after specials. Only three students said they wanted a sack lunch from school, so please don’t forget to bring your own lunch on Thursday.

TURKEY TALE CELEBRATION- Please mark your calendars for Friday, November 21st . Our celebration will be in the classroom from 8:00-9:00. RSVP if you haven’t already.

PROGRESS REPORTS- 4 ½ week progress reports will be sent home this week.

SUBJECT MATTER
SPELLING- Core Words-mother, light, country, father, let Bonus Words- handshake, lifeguard, headache, headquarters, housekeeper, lightweight, flashlight / Discuss compound words / Review words with silent letters / Cloze Review on Friday

ENGLISH- Discuss common and proper nouns / Learn how to use capital letters with names and titles / Recopy turkey tales

READING-Biography Blab!!!!!! / Skills=inferencing, drawing conclusions, and main idea / Read AR books / How to read nonfiction, take notes, and turn the notes into a report

MATH- We will continue to take the fish tests every day. Study! Study! Study! We will be taking a couple of quizzes this week to review multiplication vocabulary, basic problems and problem solving.

NEWSLETTER MRS. TURNER NOV. 3-7

BIOGRAPHY BOOK REPORT- I gave the students a sheet of paper today with information about how we are going to be doing the biography book report. A parent signature is needed on the sheet. Note cards were passed out to all of the students, and we discussed in detail how to fill them out. We will be working on our note cards every day this week in class. Note cards can be worked on at home, but realize that time will be given in class each day. Students need to be ready for the interview on Tuesday, November 11th. Note cards can NOT be used during the interview. They are to be used for practicing for the interview. Start figuring out what to wear during the interview. I’m looking forward to meeting all of the famous people on my soon to be famous talk show…Biography Blab…The Talk Show Where Famous People…Tell It All!

NO SCHOOL- Students do not have school on Tuesday due to Election Day.

TURKEY TALES- Students will be writing a creative piece to share at our Turkey Tale Celebration on Friday, November 21st. Students will also be decorating a turkey to go along with the story. Information will be coming home later this week about what to bring to school for decorating. Parents, please RSVP if you plan on coming to the celebration.

THANKSGIVING FEAST- An orange piece of paper was sent home last week about the Thanksgiving feast in the cafeteria. If you plan on coming to eat with your child on Wednesday, November 19th from 12:05-12:50, please fill out the bottom portion of the letter and return it by Friday. We will have additional lunch time changes that week.

BOOSTERTHON FUN RUN- We are getting very excited about a special event that is coming to our school! Look for important information that will be coming home this week!

CINDERELLA BOOKS- Many thanks to all of the parents who typed, laminated, and bound our books for us. The children are very excited to be published. Parents will have the opportunity to see the books at the Turkey Tale Celebration.

ART LESSON- We will be having an art lesson on Friday

MATH- The fish tests are going strong! It is difficult to pass the test in 35 seconds unless you know the facts VERY well. Please study very hard and learn your facts. Remember, the Real Deal test always needs to be signed.

ENGLISH/WRITING- Write Turkey Tales this week / Common and proper nouns / Morning work packet / DOL quiz

SOCIAL STUDIES- Quiz over Greece / Begin studying the Three Branches of Government
