NEWSLETTER MRS. TURNER NOV. 10-14

BIOGRAPHY BOOK REPORT-Tomorrow is the big day! We have been working hard on this for many weeks now. We read the book, learned how to take notes, studied the notes, now the students should be ready to be interviewed tomorrow. Please practice tonight with your child. I’m looking forward to meeting all of the famous people tomorrow.

ACCELERATED READER- All students still have a goal of 10 points for this nine weeks even though we had the biography book report. As of today, your child has ______out of 10 points. We have completed four weeks, and we are beginning the fifth week of the nine week period.

BOOSTERTHON FUN RUN- Wow! What an exciting adventure. The students AND parents have done a great job getting pledges for the Boosterthon Fun Run! Science Lab here we come! Please try to come to the fun run on Thursday from 12:10-1:45 and support your child. I know it’s going to be LOTS of fun We will be having sack lunches in the room that day right after specials. Only three students said they wanted a sack lunch from school, so please don’t forget to bring your own lunch on Thursday.

TURKEY TALE CELEBRATION- Please mark your calendars for Friday, November 21st . Our celebration will be in the classroom from 8:00-9:00. RSVP if you haven’t already.

PROGRESS REPORTS- 4 ½ week progress reports will be sent home this week.

SUBJECT MATTER
SPELLING- Core Words-mother, light, country, father, let Bonus Words- handshake, lifeguard, headache, headquarters, housekeeper, lightweight, flashlight / Discuss compound words / Review words with silent letters / Cloze Review on Friday

ENGLISH- Discuss common and proper nouns / Learn how to use capital letters with names and titles / Recopy turkey tales

READING-Biography Blab!!!!!! / Skills=inferencing, drawing conclusions, and main idea / Read AR books / How to read nonfiction, take notes, and turn the notes into a report

MATH- We will continue to take the fish tests every day. Study! Study! Study! We will be taking a couple of quizzes this week to review multiplication vocabulary, basic problems and problem solving.
