SILLY SLIPPERS FOR SOUTH COBB- Students are encouraged to bring $1.00 or more to help support the South Cobb Marching Band in their quest to attend the Inaugural Parade. Did they tell you that I got a little emotional while discussing this with them We are already wearing pajamas for our Art reward tomorrow, so the slippers will fit perfectly!
HOLIDAY PARTY- Please come and celebrate with us on Friday, December 19th from 9:30-10:30.
ACCELERATED READER- Students have until Friday at 2:00 to earn 10 AR points. As of today, your child has ___________out of 10 points.
GEOMETRY QUILT- The geometry quilts are due tomorrow. They will be graded on accuracy and neatness. Students are responsible for knowing all of the information on the quilts.
PRINCIPAL’S CHALLENGE- Congratulations to the following students who were able to pass the Principal’s Challenge: Jack Dennehy, Piper Runyon, Matt Huffstetler, Reagan Coats, Andrew Thomas, Katie Nelson, and Jacob McElhannon. Students had to answer 30 division problems in one minute. If they got those all correct, then they had to answer 30 multiplication problems in one minute. Keep working hard at home. Mrs. Pepper offers the Principal’s Challenge every Friday.
7 MINUTE TIMED TESTS- We have been taking a break from the Math Buster tests since we’ve been taking the fish tests. I am going to give 3, seven minute timed tests this week that I’m going to grade. Tuesday= multiplication 0-5, Wednesday=multiplication 0-12, and Thursday=division 0-9. Study each night for the appropriate test. (Yes, even Math Busters have to take these tests. They will not count against anyone who has already passed that particular test, but they can count FOR someone who hasn’t passed that test yet.)
KEYBOARDING- We have heard from the middle schools that students need to work on their keyboarding skills. Students can go to my blog and click on Dance Type Mat to practice when they have free time at home.
SUBJECT MATTER
SPELLING- Students have their own list of words this week. Homework will come from the Spelling contract again this week. No homework on Tuesday! / Spelling Achievement Tests
MATH- We will be taking the Unit 2 post test and the Unit 3 pre test this week. Also study for the fish tests and the 7 minute timed tests.
READING- The Best Christmas Pageant Ever / Earn 10 AR points

WOW! We have such a great class! Their awesome behavior is noticed throughout the school. They won a reward with the music teacher last week. Now they have won a reward with the art teacher! Students should wear their pajamas next Tuesday for their art reward.
READING LOG- Please remember that students need to read AT LEAST 4 out of 7 nights a week for a minimum of 15 minutes each night. I know that there are many things going on this time of year, but the minutes still need to be written on the reading logs
ACCELERATED READER- Students have 2 more weeks to reach their 10 point AR goal. As of today, you have ______out of 10 points. I want EVERYONE to be able to come to the “P” Party at the end of the year.
MULTIPLICATION FISH TESTS- Congratulations to the following students who passed the Real Deal Tens first and have earned a free dinner with Mrs. Turner:
Madelyn Byrne, Reagan Coats, Jack Dennehy, Davis Howard, Jacob McElhannon, Heather McGowan, Piper Runyon, Tag Sawick, Brendan Stotler, and Andrew Thomas. Way to go!!!!!!!

Remember, APPLICATION is the key. Don’t just learn the facts for the test, learn them for life!

GEOMETRY QUILT- Students should be working on their geometry quilts every night. For a neat, colorful project, students should not be waiting until the last minute to work on the quilt.
PRINCIPAL’S CHALLENGE- Everyone in our class will be taking the Principal’s Challenge this Friday. One test will be over multiplication facts. The other test will be over division facts. Study all week to prepare for this important challenge.

ENGLISH- The students did great on the plurals test. This week we will be working on possessive nouns (The rules have changed a little since parents were in school. To make a singular noun possessive, you should ALWAYS add ’s. For example- dog’s bowl,
bus’s tire, Mr. Hood’s desk, Miss Priss’s hat. If the word is plural and it ends in s, just add an ’. If the word is plural and it doesn’t end in s, add ’s. For example-dogs’ bowl,
buses’ tires, men’s clubhouse, mice’s cheese) Possessive Noun quiz on Friday / Writing assessment over informational writing / Friendly letter format
READING-We will be reading my favorite book: The Best Christmas Pageant Ever /
STAR test in the computer lab / One on one help with inferencing and main idea
MATH-We will continue reviewing multiplication and division and discussing geometry terms. Remember, the quilt is due on Tuesday, December 16th. Quilts should be neat and colorful. Continue to study multiplication facts on a nightly basis. Be ready for the Principal’s Challenge on Friday.

BOOSTERTHON DONATIONS ARE DUE TOMORROW- Please turn in all donations tomorrow. Our class gets to keep 10% of the donations we actually receive. Thanks so much for all of your help. We are excited about the Science Lab!
TURKEY TALE CELEBRATION- Many thanks to all of the parents who were able to come to our Turkey Tale Celebration. I hope you were as impressed with the students’ creativity and humor as I was. I thought they did a great job on the stories and disguising their turkeys. I also appreciate all of the food, drink, and paper donations. You all are the best!
SPELLING CONTRACT- Students were given a spelling contract today that we will be using for the next three weeks. Students are to choose 3 assignments each week that they would like to do. Once an activity has been chosen, it can not be used again. Students should put the date beside the activity as they complete it. We will all do the Dear Parent worksheet every Tuesday night.
GEOMETRY QUILT PROJECT- Students were given information today about a geometry quilt assignment that will be due on Tuesday, December 16th. I showed the students examples of what the final product should look like. We will be discussing the various geometry terms at school each day, but work on the quilt must be done at home.
HOLIDAY CRAFTS- If any parent is interested in coming into the classroom to do a holiday craft with the students, let me know! Parents are asked to bring the necessary supplies needed for the project. ( I have construction paper, glue, glitter, etc.) We can adjust the time to meet your schedule. If you’re interested, tell me what the project is, the amount of time needed, and a convenient day and time for you. We can do this any time from now until we get out for the winter break.
JINGLE JAM- Information is coming home today about Jingle Jam. It will be held on December 6th from 9-2.

MATH- The students are doing GREAT on the fish tests! The top group will be taking the Real Deal nines tomorrow! That will decide who gets to go out to eat! Study hard! ALL of the students will receive a reward when they have finished the twelves. / Begin division
