NEWSLETTER MRS. TURNER DECEMBER 8-12

WOW! We have such a great class! Their awesome behavior is noticed throughout the school. They won a reward with the music teacher last week. Now they have won a reward with the art teacher! Students should wear their pajamas next Tuesday for their art reward.

READING LOG- Please remember that students need to read AT LEAST 4 out of 7 nights a week for a minimum of 15 minutes each night. I know that there are many things going on this time of year, but the minutes still need to be written on the reading logs

ACCELERATED READER- Students have 2 more weeks to reach their 10 point AR goal. As of today, you have ______out of 10 points. I want EVERYONE to be able to come to the “P” Party at the end of the year.

MULTIPLICATION FISH TESTS- Congratulations to the following students who passed the Real Deal Tens first and have earned a free dinner with Mrs. Turner:
Madelyn Byrne, Reagan Coats, Jack Dennehy, Davis Howard, Jacob McElhannon, Heather McGowan, Piper Runyon, Tag Sawick, Brendan Stotler, and Andrew Thomas. Way to go!!!!!!!
I am proud of ALL of the students for working very hard on their multiplication facts.
Remember, APPLICATION is the key. Don’t just learn the facts for the test, learn them for life!

HOLIDAY PARTY- Our holiday party will be held on Friday, December 19th from 9:00-10:30 with the first 30 minutes being preparation time. Mrs. Sawick will be sending out details about the party later. Everyone is invited to join us.

GEOMETRY QUILT- Students should be working on their geometry quilts every night. For a neat, colorful project, students should not be waiting until the last minute to work on the quilt.

PRINCIPAL’S CHALLENGE- Everyone in our class will be taking the Principal’s Challenge this Friday. One test will be over multiplication facts. The other test will be over division facts. Study all week to prepare for this important challenge.

SUBJECT MATTER
SPELLING- Core Words-paper, hard, near, sentence, better Review Words-through, because, something, again, without, signed, their, you’re, declarative, and interrogative / Students should use the spelling contract from last week to decide what to do for homework three nights this week Students may not repeat an activity from last week/ Cloze Review on Friday

ENGLISH- The students did great on the plurals test. This week we will be working on possessive nouns (The rules have changed a little since parents were in school. To make a singular noun possessive, you should ALWAYS add ’s. For example- dog’s bowl,
bus’s tire, Mr. Hood’s desk, Miss Priss’s hat. If the word is plural and it ends in s, just add an ’. If the word is plural and it doesn’t end in s, add ’s. For example-dogs’ bowl,
buses’ tires, men’s clubhouse, mice’s cheese) Possessive Noun quiz on Friday / Writing assessment over informational writing / Friendly letter format

READING-We will be reading my favorite book: The Best Christmas Pageant Ever /
STAR test in the computer lab / One on one help with inferencing and main idea

MATH-We will continue reviewing multiplication and division and discussing geometry terms. Remember, the quilt is due on Tuesday, December 16th. Quilts should be neat and colorful. Continue to study multiplication facts on a nightly basis. Be ready for the Principal’s Challenge on Friday.

SCIENCE- Quiz over regions in Georgia tomorrow. Use information from folder to study for the quiz.
