NEWSLETTER MRS. TURNER APRIL 28-MAY 2

CRCT- We took the science portion of the test today. We will take the social studies section tomorrow. Thank you so much for the delicious treats that have been sent in. The children look forward to the snacks every day.

ACCELERATED READER- All library books from Ford must be turned in by May 12th. The last day to take an AR test is Friday, May 16th. All students who have met their 10 point goal by then, will be invited to the “P” Party on Monday, May 19th from 5-7. As of today, you have _________out of 10 points.

ENVIRONMENTAL FIELD TRIP- We will be going on our last field trip on Monday, May 5th. We will leave at 9:00 and return about 1:30. Mrs. Murphy will be our chaperone.

PROGRESS REPORTS- I will be sending home 4 ½ week progress reports on Wednesday. Please sign and return.

CONGRATULATIONS- Congrats to Ellie Loudermilk, Colette Visage, Maddy Hendricks, and Gabi Gilreath…our newest Math Busters!

CONGRATULATIONS! Kyle Bender is our newest Math Buster!

SPRING FLING- I heard the everyone had a great time at Spring Fling. I was busy helping Allison get ready for the Harrison Prom

EARTH DAY- Tomorrow, the students need to dress in blue and green in honor of Earth Day. We will have various Earth Day activities throughout the day

CRCT- This is it! We’ve worked hard all year to prove what we know. The Reading section of the test will be given on Wednesday morning, followed by English on Thursday, and Math on Friday. We test two days the following week also with Science on Monday morning and Social Studies on Tuesday. Students need at least two #2 pencils with good erasers. I sent home a testing snack schedule last week. I will copy it again on the back of this newsletter. Please mark your date on the calendar, and send in your item on the assigned date. The children really look forward to the special snacks. I will not be assigning homework during testing. I would like for the students to read their AR books and review math facts each night. Please get to bed early every night and eat a nutritious breakfast every morning. RELAX!!!!!

ACCELERATED READER- Students have until Friday, May 16th to meet their 10 point AR goal. As of today, you have _______ out of 10 points. The “P” Party will be on Monday, May 19th from 5-7 at Mrs. Turner’s house. All students who have met their AR goal every nine weeks will be invited.

ENVIRONMENTAL FIELD TRIP- We will be going on our last Environmental Field Trip on Monday, May 5th. Please send me a note if you would like to be in the drawing to chaperone.

EVENING IN THE GARDEN- Mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 7th starting at 5:30. If your child would like to participate in the musical, please fill out the orange form and return it to Mrs. Beale ASAP. If you lost the form, just write a note stating that you would like to participate in Evening in the Garden.

PROGRESS REPORTS- I will be sending home progress reports next Wednesday.

VOLUNTEER TEA- Many thanks to all of the parents who have helped out in the classroom this year. We have been blessed with many parent helpers. The volunteer tea will be on Tuesday, May 6th in the Media Center.

MUFFINS FOR MOMS- Moms, remember to mark your calendars for Thursday, May 8th. We have a special morning planned for you.

SUBJECT MATTER
SPELLING- We will not introduce new words this week. We will take the 3rd section of the Spelling Inventory Test. This is not something that you need to study for. Please use this week to review your “tab” spelling words.

ENGLISH- Review all of the English concepts ( possessive nouns, pronouns, proper and common nouns, subjects and predicates, types of sentences, plurals, prefixes and suffixes, punctuation)

READING- Take a practice test / Discuss Diffendoofer Day / Read AR books

MATH- Review pages / Learn long division / Review basic facts

SOCIAL STUDIES- Rivers of the World / Review

SCIENCE- Rocks and Minerals video / Review / Earth Day activities

NEWSLETTER MRS. TURNER APRIL 14-18

WELCOME BACK- I hope everyone had a relaxing break.

CRCT- We will be reviewing and prepping for the CRCT test this week and next. I will be sending home a special testing snack schedule at the beginning of next week. Each day a healthy and salty snack, a drink, and a surprise will be provided for the students. The test starts on Wednesday, April 23rd and continues until the following Tuesday, April 29th.

ACCELERATED READER- Students have 5 MORE WEEKS to earn their 10 AR points. As of today, your child has _______ AR points. Everyone is on track to come to the “P” Party. Make sure to earn your points early so you won’t be stressed towards the end of the nine weeks period.

SPRING FLING- Come and join the fun on Saturday from 4-8!!! There will be lots of games, booths, auction items (the third grade teachers are offering a neat treat…kick ball and pizza… the students will play the teachers on Wednesday, April 30th from 2:30-4:30…the 10 highest bidders will win this GREAT auction item) Also, please remember to send in items for our Family Fun basket.

MATH- Review multiplication with partial products. (Parents, get your child to show you the NEW way to do 2 & 3 digit by 1 digit multiplication) Introduce long division / Review basic math skills / Study facts at home each night

SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES- Watch various videos each afternoon to review science and social studies standards
