NEWSLETTER MRS. TURNER APRIL 27-MAY 1

TESTING- I feel like the students did well on the CRCT tests. If they get an “E” for Effort, then they will all do great! Today was the last day…yay! Thanks for all of the wonderful snacks and surprises during testing!

NORMAL SCHEDULE- After today, we will be back on a normal schedule. We will also start having some homework again and agendas need to be signed every night.

TWIN DAY- Students will need to dress like their “twin” book buddy on Wednesday. They should also bring a candy bar, salty snack, and drink for their book buddy. A form will be coming home today with the information filled out on it. Remember, bring in items for book buddy on Wednesday!!!

ABSENT- I will be missing a few days of school because my son, Kevin, is having surgery. Jill Batchelder will be my sub for all of the days I’m out.

MRS. PEPPER’S BIRTHDAY- Please make a card for Mrs. Pepper’s 60th birthday. It is on Thursday, April 30th.

EVENING IN THE GARDEN-Come celebrate a great year out in our beautiful gardens on Monday, May 4th. Many thanks to all of the students who are performing.

MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION- Mark your calendars for Friday, May 8th from 8:00-9:00. We will honor our wonderful mothers.

TARGET DAY CHANGE- Next week, students will have Target on Tuesday, May 5th instead of Thursday.

FIELD DAY- Our field day will be on Tuesday, May 12th. We need a volunteer to send in popsicles for the class that day. Let me know if you would like to do that

MEDIA CENTER- All library books are due on or before Friday, May 15th.

“P” PARTY- All students who have met their AR goal all four nine weeks are invited to the “P” Party at Mrs. Turner’s house on Monday, May 18th from 4:00-6:00. As of today, you have ______out of 10 points. Read! Read! Read!

PLAY- A special group of students will be presenting the play, “The Excuse Olympics”, to parents on Thursday, May 21st at 8:15 in our classroom.

SUBJECT MATTER

SPELLING-Core Words- inside, ago, sad, I’ll, early Bonus Words- answer, tomorrow, several, morning, thought, through, another, remember / Cloze Review on Friday

WRITING- We will be starting a May writing folder. Students will choose from a list of topics to write about. / Cursive handwriting- We will be working hard to cover all of the upper case and lower case cursive letters before the end of the year.

ENGLISH- Acrostic poems / Other types of poetry / Grammar Workshop book

READING- “A Storm in the Night” / Activities to go along with the story / Comprehension test on Friday/ Time for Kids

MATH- Continue working on long division
