NEWSLETTER MRS. TURNER AUG. 31-SEPT. 4

OPEN HOUSE- Please join us for Open House this Thursday at 6:30. We will be going over classroom procedures, grading, report cards, curriculum, etc. Please bring paper and pen for taking notes

ACCELERATED READER- All students have a goal of 8 points for the first nine weeks. An orange piece of paper is coming home today showing how many points your child has earned so far. Please sign the paper and return it with your child. Please encourage your child to meet his/her goal.

READING LOG- Remember, reading logs are due every Monday. Students need to read for at least 15 minutes 4 out of 7 days each week. Please include the number of minutes on the reading log when you initial it.

MEDIA CENTER- We will be going to the Media Center on Wednesday. Make sure to bring your library books to be rechecked out or returned.

LABOR DAY- No school on Monday, September 7th. A fun activity for the family…Love the Lake Parade on Saturday in downtown Acworth! Kevin will be marching with the Allatoona Band

MYSTERY READER- Many thanks to Mrs. Boler for reading to the children today!

PERFORMING ARTS- Please send in your signed Performing Arts form ASAP. I am still missing quite a few. If you need a new one, let me know.

SUBJECT MATTER
SPELLING- We will be working on ay, ow, ew, igh, y this week. We will have an assessment on Friday.

ENGLISH- Subjects and predicates will still be discussed this week.

WRITING-We will practice writing descriptive paragraphs. We will also discuss main idea and supporting details.

READING- This week, we will be reviewing book care, how to choose a book, and how people’s choices of books differ. / Make sure you have a chapter book to read at school every day. Finish one book before starting another.

MATH-Discuss Benchmark numbers and work on rounding and estimating/ Be ready for the timed test on Wednesday / Have you started memorizing your multiplication facts yet? Get started now!!!!!!!

SOCIAL STUDIES- What role has ancient Greece had in shaping how the United States is today?
