NEWSLETTER MRS. TURNER OCT. 26-30

NEW MATH BUSTER- Congratulations to Jenna Grutzmacher for becoming a Math Buster! I sent a letter home on Friday explaining the 7 minute timed tests. We will only be taking multiplication 7 minute timed tests this nine weeks because that’s what we are focusing on. And they will only be given periodically, not every Wednesday.

FISH TESTS- Students will be taking a multiplication fish test EVERY day. It’s always on a three day rotation…In Order, Mixed Up, then Real Deal. Remember, students may NOT make up a Real Deal Test for any reason. Please help your child practice at home. The multiplication facts are the foundation for all of the math we will be doing in the future. Please help your child master these very important facts. They need to know them for life…not just for a test.

NO SCHOOL- Students do not have school on Tuesday, November 3rd.

RED RIBBON WEEK- Monday= door decorating day / Tuesday= “Put a Cap on Drugs”-students should wear a hat on Tuesday / Wednesday=”Sock It To Drugs”-students should wear crazy socks on Wednesday / Thursday=”Turn Your Back on Drugs”=students should wear their clothes backwards on Thursday/ Friday= Everyone should dress in RED!

BOOSTERTHON FUN RUN- I know these are difficult economic times for many people, but if you know of anyone who would be willing to support a FANTASTIC program, please ask for pledges. They are a tax deduction. We need to collect money in order to keep our fantastic science teacher and science lab. People can make a flat donation or they can make a pledge per lap. Thanks for your support! If it doesn’t rain, students will be running on Wednesday at 9:30. Come out and show your support!!!

TURKEY TALE CELEBRATION- Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, November 18th. That day, the cafeteria will be preparing a big Thanksgiving Feast for all of the third grade students and their parents. Our lunch time will be adjusted that day. We will also have a Turkey Tale Celebration in our classroom that day following the feast. Students will be sharing special stories that they have written. It should take about one hour. We would love to have all of our parents come and celebrate with us!

CINDERELLA STORIES- Students will be bringing home their Cinderella stories tonight. As a parent, please help your child proofread for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and capitalization mistakes. Do not change the child’s ideas Also, lines need to be drawn every time students want to end a page. Parents have volunteered to type the stories for us. I will be meeting with them to explain how the typing will be done, but all of the editing needs to be completed first.

ACCELERATED READER- Please check your child’s agenda to see how many points he/she has so far this nine weeks. Our goal for the nine week period is 10 points.

CONGRATUALTIONS- Our class won the Box Tops for Education contest. Thanks for sending in so many box tops! You all are the best!
