Newsletter Mrs. Turner Jan. 19-22

I hope you enjoyed your long weekend. We finally had some nice weather!

ABSENT- I will be here for half of the day tomorrow. I will be out all of Thursday and Friday for my mother’s surgery in Tennessee. I will not have e-mail access while I am gone. Mrs. Toner will be my substitute.

CONFERENCE WEEK- I am looking forward to meeting with everyone. It is always valuable to discuss strengths, weaknesses, and goals for success. I will be handing out report cards at conference time also. Remember, students will be dismissed at 12:15 each day next week.

ACCELERATED READER- All students need 10 points by the end of the nine week period. Get started early!

100 PROBLEM/ 7 MINUTE TIMED TESTS- We will resume the 7 minute timed tests after conference week. I will give each parent a sheet at conference showing what scores your child has made so far.

FISH TESTS- We will continue taking fish tests on a two day rotation.

SPELLING-EQ- How do you write the present tense and past tense of irregular verbs?
Assessment on Friday

ENGLISH-EQ- How do you know which irregular verb to use in a sentence? Worksheets over irregular verbs will be given throughout the week./ Complete morning work packet each day

WRITING- EQ- What is an author’s purpose for writing? Finish and share stories that we wrote for entertainment.

READING- EQ- How do rhyming words help us to read more words? EQ- How do prefixes affect the meaning of a base word? Use Buckle Down books to review and prepare for the CRCT / Read books about animals in Georgia / Time For Kids / Stone Fox

MATH- EQ-How can you show parts of a whole and parts of a group?
EQ- How can you add and subtract fractions with like denominators?

SOCIAL STUDIES-EQ- How did Paul Revere affect American history?
