VALENTINE BOX- Students should decorate a shoe box at home this week and bring it to school on Friday. If students choose to hand out Valentines, they must include everyone in our class A list was sent home last week. We will hand out and read our Valentines during morning work on Friday.
SPECIAL TREAT- Students will have a special Valentine Treat on Friday so you won’t need a snack that day.
BOOK BUDDIES-On Friday, we will be visiting with our Book Buddies. You might want to make a Valentine for your Book Buddy.
COMPUTER LAB- We will be going to the computer lab tomorrow to gather information on our Georgia animal. Our time has been changed to 9:00-10:00.
SCIENCE LAB- We will be going to the Science Lab on Friday.
READING AND MATH COMPACTING- Mrs. Pepper has asked us to provide some extra time for reading and math so all of the students can feel confident and ready to do a super job on the CRCT in April. As of today, students will be going to various third grade teachers for an hour to work on skills needed to do well on the CRCT.
NO SCHOOL- Schools will be closed on Monday, February 15th.
CURRICULUM NIGHT- Mark your calendars for Thursday, February 25th. It is a neat time for students and parents to go throughout the school and try hands-on activities.
SIX FLAGS READING FORMS- The Six Flags Reading forms are due on Friday, February 26. If you read this, draw a flag in the signature box.
SUBJECT MATTER
SPELLING- EQ- How can you spell the long e sound at the end of a word? “y”, “ey”, and “ie”/ Assessment on Friday
ENGLISH-EQ-How do you make subjects and verbs agree?
READING/SOCIAL STUDIES- EQ- How did Mary Bethune affect American history? We will be reading about her and discussing her life./ Time For Kids / Using sticky notes to mark important passages / Buckle Down activities
WRITING/SCIENCE- EQ-How do you organize notes in order to write an informational paper? We will be going to the computer lab to gather more information on our Georgia animal. I will be modeling how to organize the information and how to write an informational paper.
MATH-This week, we will be reviewing all of the topics we have covered with fractions and decimals. I want the students to start applying what they have learned./ Fish tests are still on a two day rotation./ 7 minute timed test will be given on Wednesday. Congratulations to our newest Math Busters: Michael Kriebel and Julianne White…Way to go!!!!! / Homework this week will be CRCT practice and individual needs
