TELLUS MUSEUM FIELD TRIP- We will be going on our field trip this Thursday. Students who did not raise their hands for a school lunch, will need to bring a sack lunch and a drink. Please pack your lunch in a disposable bag. I am going to need TWO MORE CHAPERONES. You would have to pay and you might have to drive in your own car. If you are interested, please write a note in the signature section of the agenda. I will draw two names tomorrow.
ST. PATRICK’S DAY TREAT- Students will have a special St. Patrick’s Day treat tomorrow instead of Wednesday because of our busy schedule on Wednesday. Many thanks to the parents who have volunteered to bring in a treat.
ACCELERATED READER- All of the students have met the 10 point AR goal for the first three nine weeks!!!!! Yeah!!!! Please be aware that the media center will start taking up books with about two weeks of school left. Plan ahead! Hopefully, Pop and Read got everyone off to a good start.
REPORT CARDS- I will send home report cards on Thursday. Please place TWO STAMPS on the envelope and address it to yourself. I need for the signature card to be signed and returned in the UNsealed envelope. The report card can be kept at home.
SPRING FLING- Plan to attend Spring Fling on Saturday, March 27 from 4-8. It should be lots of fun!
SUBJECT MATTER
SPELLING- EQ- How do you know where to divide a word into syllables? We will be discussing words with the VCCV and the VCV patterns this week. An assessment will be given on Friday.
ENGLISH/WRITING- EQ- What elements are included in a persuasive paper? We will be reading books, making graphic organizers, and discussing how to write a persuasive paper. A writing assessment will be given on Wednesday. / Catch up week…finish activities that were started on Valentine’s Day / Cursive “c”
READING-EQ- Are you able to read a passage in the allotted amount of time and comprehend what you read? I will be doing a DRA (Diagnostic Reading Assessments) on all students this week. / Time For Kids / Start earning AR points / Correct old Time For Kids
MATH-EQ- How can you count back change? Parents, this is a VERY difficult concept for third grade students. Please practice at home. Example:Say to your child: I would like to buy a bag of Fritos for $2.69. Here is $5.00. Have your child count back the change to you. Give multiple examples each night and use real or play money for the student to manipulate and count back to you. They should try to use the fewest number of coins and bills possible. / 7 minute timed test on Wednesday
SCIENCE - The students were the first class to earn ten creatures in the Science Lab which then lets them have a lesson from the Curiosity Bag. Congratulations!!!! / Tellus Museum Field Trip on Thursday / Remember to send in your name if you are interested in chaperoning.
