BOX TOPS REWARD/BOOK BUDDIES- Many thanks to Mrs. Kriebel for providing our reward for the Box Tops Contest. We had delicious chocolate chip cookies and fresh strawberries with our Book Buddies!
VOLUNTEER TEA- Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 28th for the Volunteer Tea. Teachers will be providing appetizers and desserts for our wonderful volunteers. Food will be set up in the Media Center starting at 9:00.
SUBSTITUTE ON FRIDAY- I will be at a meeting all day Friday. Mrs. Didier will be my substitute.
ACCELERATED READER- All students need 10 AR points by Monday, May 17th. April 30th is the last day students may check out books from the Ford Media Center. All books must be returned by May 7th. Of course, students may check out books from the public library or from my book shelves up until the 17th. Please ask your child how he/she is doing with AR points. Draw a book in the signature box of the agenda if you read this
“P” PARTY- All students who earn at least 10 AR points for the final nine weeks will be invited to the “P”PARTY at Mrs. Turner’s house on Tuesday, May 18th from 4-6. More details will be given later. For now… read, read, read!!!!
7 MINUTE TIMED TEST- We will be taking a timed test this Wednesday. Please help your child study. The goal is for every child to be a Math Buster by the end of the year.
MUFFINS FOR MOMS- Please mark your calendars for Friday, May 7th from 9:15-10:15. We will be having a special Mother’s Day Celebration in our classroom.
SUBJECT MATTER
SPELLING- We are back on a normal schedule this week, so students WILL have a spelling assessment this Friday over sort #30.
ENGLISH- Review simple and compound sentences and types of sentences/ Expect homework from the GUMS book every night this week
READING- We will reread The Talking Eggs and then read the Jr. Great Book, Mother of the Waters. We will compare and contrast the two stories throughout the week and do activities related to Mother of the Waters
WRITING- We will be doing some special writing for upcoming events. Students may write in their journals any time they finish their work.
MATH- We will continue working on the distributive property and long division this week./ Please be ready for the timed test on Wednesday

TESTING IS OVER!!!! The children worked very on the tests. If they got graded on effort, they would all get 3+. Many thanks to all of the families who sent in snacks, drinks, and surprises!
BOOK BUDDIES- We will be celebrating our Box Tops win with our Book Buddies tomorrow.
SECRETARY’S DAY- Tomorrow is Secretary’s Day. Please let the office staff know how much you appreciate them.
EARTH DAY- Please wear green or blue for Earth Day on Thursday, April 22nd. The whole day will involve Earth Day activities.
PIE DAY- Thank you so much for your willingness to send in an ingredient for Pie Day. Please send the ingredient on or before Friday, April 23rd. The Pie Day Challenge Questions are due on Thursday, April 22nd. Pie Day is one of my favorite days of the year. I can’t wait!!!
SCIENCE LAB- We will be having Science Lab on Friday.
COMMUNITY CLEAN UP DAY- Please come and help clean out the gardens on Saturday, April 24th starting at 9:00. Bring your yard tools and gloves with you.
VOLUNTEER TEA- We are so blessed to have such wonderful parent helpers. Please join us on Wednesday, April 28th for the Volunteer Tea. It will be held in the Media Center starting at 9:00 A.M.
EVENING IN THE GARDEN- Order a healthy dinner for your family from the school or bring your own picnic and join us on the beautiful grounds of Ford at 5:00 on Monday, May 3rd. The students will be performing an original musical production.
MUFFINS FOR MOMS-Please mark your calendars for Friday, May 7th from 9:15-10:15 for a Mother’s Day Celebration in our classroom.
FIELD DAY- Our field day is Tuesday, May 11th. Please wear a blue shirt. Would anyone like to send in popsickles for that day?
RETIREMENT PARTY FOR MRS. PEPPER- Students and parents are invited to a special retirement party for Mrs. Pepper in the garden on Wednesday, May 12 from 2:45-3:45. Come and give hugs and well-wishes to our wonderful principal!
“P” PARTY- All of the students have met the AR goal for the first three nine weeks. Everyone needs 10 AR points by Monday, May 17th in order to go to the “P” Party on Tuesday, May 18th. More details will be given closer to time. For now, read, read, read!!!

WELCOME BACK! I hope everyone is rested and ready to “show what you know”!
CRCT- Testing will start on Wednesday with Reading being the first test. Thursday=Language Arts, Friday=Math, Monday= Science and Tuesday= Social Studies. A special snack schedule was sent home on Thursday. Please mark your day on the calendar. Let me know if you need another copy.
Things to remember:
-get to school on time
-have AR books to read during testing
- minimal homework during testing
-no spelling test for the next two weeks
-need at least two, #2 pencils with good erasers (no mechanical pencils)
-get to bed early
-eat a good breakfast
-bring a sweater or jacket in case the AC is on and the room gets chilly
-think positively
ACCELERATED READER- Students need 10 AR points by Monday, May 17. Please look at your child’s agenda for the number of points earned so far. This is a great week to catch up on reading since we won’t be having homework.
LIBRARY BOOK CHECKOUT/RETURN- April 30th is the last day students may check out a library book from the school. All student books are due on May 7th.
HISTORICAL UNDERSTANDINGS- Students were given a sheet today with a brief outline of the famous Americans that we have studied throughout the year. This is a WONDERFUL sheet to review before the Social Studies CRCT on Tuesday of next week.
FIRST IN MATH- Keep trying this computer program and let us know what you think.
FORD SPIRIT DANCE- Enjoy some time away from testing! Come to the dance this Saturday from 6-8 at Lost Mountain Middle School..
