PARENT HELPERS-We don’t have parent helpers this week due to testing.
IOWA TEST OF BASIC SKILLS- We will be taking the IOWA test every morning this week. Please continue to get to bed early, eat a good breakfast, and come to school with a positive attitude Monday will be Reading, Tuesday will be Language Arts, Wednesday will be Math, Thursday will be Science and Social Studies and Friday will be Maps, Diagrams, and Reference Materials. The special snacks, drinks, and surprises give us something to look forward to each day during testing. Thanks for your willingness to provide the snacks, drinks, and surprises.
ROCK CYCLE SCIENCE ACTIVITY- Many thanks to all of the parents who came in and helped us with the rock cycle activity: Mrs. Champion, Mrs. Maryland, Mrs. McElhannon, Mrs. Stotler, Mrs. Ketch, Mrs. Slade, Mrs. Visage, and Mrs. Thompson.
ACCELERATED READER- The goal for the first nine weeks is 8 points with 80% accuracy. Students wrote their number of points and their comprehension level in their agendas today. Please encourage your child to meet his/her goal by this Friday, October 8th.
CONFERENCE WEEK- Letters will be coming home before the end of this week suggesting a conference time for you. Please look over the sheet and return it asap. If the time listed will not work, please suggest an alternate time that will work better for you. Conference Week is Oct. 18-22.
BOOK FAIR- The Book Fair will be held during conference week. Oct. 18-22
FAVORITE TEAM SHIRT- Please support Relay for Life and pay $1.00 this Friday to wear your favorite team’s shirt.
SUBJECT MATTER
SPELLING- We will not have new spelling words this week. Please review the words from last week(sort #7) with your child. The grades were not as good as usual.
ENGLISH/READING- Students will be taking the county Benchmark Language Arts test today. It will show us how well we have learned the standards covered in the first nine weeks. / Complete DOL on the Smart Board.
READING- We will be reading different versions of Cinderella throughout the week and comparing and contrasting the information. / Read Time For Kids
MATH- We will be taking the county Math Benchmark Math Test on Wednesday. A subtraction/addition test will be given on Thursday. / The 7 minute timed test will be given on Wednesday. Please ask your child what test he/she will be taking on Wednesday. Write that in the signature portion of the agenda. Please help your child practice for the test. My blog has some great websites for practicing the basic facts.
COMPUTER LAB- We will be learning how to use Kidspiration this week.
