NEWSLETTER MRS. TURNER JAN. 31-FEB.4
IMPORTANT DATES:
TUESDAY, FEB.1- 100TH Day of School- Wash hands and count out 100 food items to be part of a big bowl of “trail mix”. Bring your 100 items to school in a baggie. Examples-pretzels, cheerios, cheese-its, chocolate chips, M & M’s, peanuts, etc. / Cooking Show for Averi, Elizabeth T, Phillip, Isabel, and Caroline- Please bring a sample for us to taste
WEDNESDAY, FEB. 2- This is a FULL day of school, not an early release day/Groundhog Day/Special Program-magician/ Cooking Show for Connor, Angelina, Patrick, Elli, and Oscar
THURSDAY, FEB. 3- Cooking Show for Jonathan, John, Amanda, Will, Elizabeth K/ Type recipe and e-mail it to Mrs. Turner at Vicki.turner@cobbk12.org / 4 ½ weeks-How many AR points do you have?
FRIDAY, FEB. 4- Cooking Show for Kaitlyn, Maya, Isabella, Josh, Steven, Mason
MONDAY, FEB. 7- CATO at school field trip
TUESDAY, FEB. 8- Class pictures will be taken / SCIENCE NIGHT AT FORD!!!!! 6:30-8:00 Please join us for a wonderful night filled with LOTS of neat science experiments. Come and see what the Science Lab has to offer. Homework passes will be given to students who participate in the activities.
FRIDAY, FEB. 11- Dr. Depew visits for Dental Health Month/ Ford Dance 6:30-8:00
MONDAY, FEB. 21-FRIDAY, FEB. 25-Winter Break- Read over winter break
BIOGRAPHY BLAB- I enjoyed talking to all of the famous people. The students were well prepared for their interviews!
ACCELERATED READER- Please ask your child how many AR points he/she has. We are half way through the nine week period. All students need 10 points by Friday, March 18th.
COOKING SHOW- We have discussed how fractions are used in everyday life. I hope the children enjoy making their favorite recipes at home, and then sharing a sample and explaining how they made it to the class.
SUBJECT MATTER
SPELLING- We are reviewing how to make words plural by adding es…”If you hear “es” you add “es”!”/ Assessment on Thursday
ENGLISH-DOL quiz today/ Review imperative sentences/ GUMS assessment over types of sentences, subjects and predicates, and common and proper nouns
WRITING- We will be discussing how to write an informational paper/How to take notes on Georgia animal. Please write the name of the Georgia animal that you are researching in the agenda/ Find a color picture of your animal at home. Print it out and bring it to school by Friday./ Review friendly letters
READING- Time For Kids/ Wolves-reading for information and note taking/ Buckle Down CRCT pretest/ Groundhog Day packet with comprehension, fact and opinion, and reading for details/ Read AR books
MATH- Adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators / Test over fractions on Thursday/ 7 minute timed test on Wednesday/ Fish Tests every day-continue to review facts on a daily basis
SCIENCE-How do features help plants and animals? Reread workbook pages 102-115. Assessment over plant and animal adaptations and features on Thursday
