NEWSLETTER MRS. TURNER MARCH 14-18
HELP NEEDED- I need at least 4 parents to help with a project on Thursday from 11:45-1:15. You will be filling and refilling paint and water bowls for our social studies project. Please write a note in your child’s agenda or send me an email if you are able to help.
SOCIAL STUDIES PROJECT- Students will be given instructions today for a social studies project that will be due on Thursday. I will model how to make the project in class today. Students will be coming home with the instructions to be signed.
ACCELERATED READER- This is the last week to earn AR points for the third nine week period. The nine weeks ends on Friday. Every student needs at least 10 AR points with 80% comprehension.
BOOK BUDDIES- We will be having a special St. Patrick’s Day snack with our Book Buddies on Thursday. We will also be doing an art project with them.
SEVEN MINUTE TIMED TEST- Please help your child master the basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts. We want all students to be a Math Buster before the end of the year! Timed tests are given every Wednesday.
CATO FIELD TRIP- We will be going on a field trip to the CATO Nature Center on Wednesday, March 23rd.
REPORT CARDS- Report cards will be sent home on Thursday, March 24th.
SUBJECT MATTER
SPELLING- We are working on compound words this week/assessment on Thursday
READING- Learning to read charts, graphs, tables/Buckle Down activities
WRITING- Persuasive writing will be covered this week.
ENGLISH- The Benchmark Test for the third nine weeks will be given on Tuesday.
MATH- We will be reviewing topics covered this nine weeks. We will also continue studying the metric measurement system. The Benchmark Test will be given on Thursday/ Buckle Down activities
SOCIAL STUDIES-Landforms in the United States- The salt dough map should be formed and baked at home. The UNpainted map should be brought to school on Thursday. Please write the name of the large mountain range in the western part of the United States in the agenda.
