NEWSLETTER MRS. TURNER OCT. 17-21
POP AND READ/ AR- I think the students enjoyed Pop and Read. I hope it helped them get off to a great start for the second nine weeks. Many thanks to Mrs. Runyon for providing pops and snacks for the students who met their AR goals! The goal for the second nine weeks is 10 points with at least 80% accuracy.
CONFERENCE WEEK- Students will be dismissed at 12:15 each day next week. I am looking forward to meeting with everyone.
STANDARDIZED TESTING- Many thanks to all of the people who sent in food, drinks, and surprises throughout testing. The students worked hard. I hope the results will show their effort. We have two more county Benchmark tests that we have to take this week. The Math Benchmark test will be given on Tuesday and the Language Arts Benchmark test will be given on Wednesday. These tests will show if the students have mastered the standards we have covered so far in Math and Language Arts.
SCIENCE FAIR- Please encourage your child to enter the science fair. Participation forms are due this Friday, Oct. 21. Projects are to be completed at home. Science Fair projects are due on Tuesday, November 15th.
SUBJECT MATTER
SPELLING- We will be working on homophones this week. Please help your child study for the test on Friday.
ENGLISH- The Benchmark test will be given on Wednesday./ We will be working on capitalization and abbreviations / DOL quizzes will be given this week also./ A new DOL packet has been placed in our morning work folders. The first nine weeks DOL packet is being sent home today.
WRITING- Response to Literature will be our writing focus this nine weeks. A prewriting will be completed on Friday.
READING- We will be studying story elements-characters , setting, plot, etc. We will be comparing and contrasting various versions of Cinderella this week.
MATH- We will be taking the Benchmark test on Tuesday. Multiplication fish test letters will be coming home today. We will begin the fish tests next week. We will be taking a break from our Math Buster tests after this Wednesday. Please write in the agenda which timed Math Buster Test your child needs to be studying for this week. An assessment will be given on Friday over estimation problem solving.

SOCIAL STUDIES- Finish discussion on the three branches of government
