GOOD NEWS/BAD NEWS- The good news is that John and I get to go on a cruise to celebrate our big 50th birthdays! The bad news is that I won’t be at school on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Donna Toner will be my substitute while I am gone. I will return any e-mails on Friday.
THANKS-Wow! It’s not so bad to turn 50 when you get spoiled! Thank you so much for the insulated lunch bag. I really needed that! My family and I will get lots of use from the wonderful gift certificates also. It was such a nice treat to have lunch and dessert delivered to me. Thank you so much!!!!!
BIOGRAPHY BOOK- Please make sure your biography book is completed by Friday, January 20. We will start discussing the note taking process on Friday.
FISH TESTS-We will continue to take fish tests on a two day rotation. The Real Deal test only needs to be signed if the student misses something.
ACCELERATED READER- Make sure to read your biography book, but don’t forget to read other books as well. Every student needs to earn a minimum of 10 AR points this nine weeks.
SUBJECT MATTER
SPELLING- We will discuss how base words are affected when we add –ed/ An assessment will be given on Friday
ENGLISH- All of the different uses of commas will be reviewed this week./Review how to use a, an, & the/ We will begin the note taking process this week.
WRITING-We will be doing writing associated with Social Studies topics this week.
READING-We will discuss the folktale called “Borreguita and the Coyote”/ An assessment will be given on Thursday/Read biography book
MATH- Area and perimeter will continue to be discussed. I apologize for the very difficult homework paper that came home last week. We will go over it together when I return./ Various assessments will be given throughout the week over perimeter and area.
SOCIAL STUDIES- Susan B. Anthony has been a BIG topic for the past week. The girls have really gotten fired up! In the agenda, write down the year that women were allowed to vote in all states. An assessment will be given on Wednesday.
